Out of the darkness, I broke through and found my way.
And, the pain, that had dwelt in my heart, was set free as my sorrows faded away.
My love, held in by fear, overcome by my destiny--
If I can be strong, if just for me, I can be all that I've wished I could be.

I can only find my peace in me
To move on passed those who've hurt me
And live the life I've always wanted to see.
I've cried so many nights weighted down by my agony,
And I've prayed that God would comfort me-- place in me the will to face reality.
The past I've risen above far beyond all my dismay.
Starting now, I won't be held down. I'll awake to the dawn of a brand new day.
I must be more than I have been
To find the confidence within me.
I do believe that it's just up to me.

Gone is my sadness that kept on-- but I've overcome.
